Post-Free Agency NFL Mock Draft: Top 10 Includes 3 Quarterbacks

Post-Free Agency NFL Mock Draft: Top 10 Includes 3 Quarterbacks

Posted on March 28, 2025 by Juragi

The NFL free agency period has come to a close, and it has certainly shaken up the landscape of the league. With key signings and trades, teams have addressed some of their most pressing needs, but there are still gaps to fill. As we look ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft, it’s clear that the top 10 picks will be crucial for many franchises. Interestingly, three quarterbacks are expected to be selected within these picks. Let’s take a closer look at how the post-free agency mock draft might shape up.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

Despite all the changes in free agency, one thing remains constant: Trevor Lawrence is expected to be the first overall pick. The Clemson quarterback has been the consensus top prospect for quite some time now. The Jaguars have a new head coach in Urban Meyer and a lot of cap space to build around Lawrence.

2. New York Jets: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

The Jets traded Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, making it clear that they’re in the market for a new quarterback. Zach Wilson from BYU is a popular choice for the second pick. His arm strength and mobility make him an exciting prospect.

3. San Francisco 49ers (from Miami Dolphins via Houston Texans): Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

The 49ers moved up in the draft order with a blockbuster trade with the Dolphins. It’s widely believed they did this to secure a quarterback. Mac Jones from Alabama could be their man. He’s not as mobile as other QBs in this class but his accuracy and decision-making are top-notch.

4. Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

The Falcons might be tempted by a quarterback here, but with Matt Ryan’s contract restructured, they seem committed to him for at least another year or two. Instead, they could opt for Kyle Pitts, the tight end from Florida. Pitts is a unique talent who could provide a significant boost to the Falcons’ offense.

5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

Protecting Joe Burrow should be the Bengals’ top priority. Penei Sewell, the offensive tackle from Oregon, is widely regarded as the best offensive lineman in this draft class and would be a great pick for Cincinnati.

6. Miami Dolphins (from Philadelphia Eagles): Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

The Dolphins traded back up to the sixth pick, presumably to secure a top pass-catcher. Ja’Marr Chase from LSU, who opted out of the 2020 season, is considered the best wide receiver in this draft.

7. Detroit Lions: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

After losing Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones in free agency, the Lions need to give new quarterback Jared Goff some weapons. DeVonta Smith, the Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama, could be just what they need.

8. Carolina Panthers: Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern

After acquiring Sam Darnold, the Panthers will likely look to bolster their offensive line. Rashawn Slater from Northwestern is a versatile lineman who could provide immediate help.

9. Denver Broncos: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

The Broncos could consider a quarterback here, but with Drew Lock still on the roster and Teddy Bridgewater recently acquired, they might opt to bolster their defense instead. Micah Parsons from Penn State is the best linebacker in this draft and would be a great addition to Denver’s defense.

10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

The Cowboys need help in their secondary and Patrick Surtain II from Alabama could provide it. He’s considered the top cornerback in this draft and would be an immediate upgrade for Dallas.

This mock draft is based on current team needs and player evaluations. The actual NFL Draft, set to take place from April 29 to May 1, could certainly bring surprises and trades that will shake up this order. However, one thing seems certain: quarterbacks will be in high demand in the top 10 picks.
