On Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner suffered a knee injury during the Cardinals game. The injury occurred in the second quarter when Conner was tackled by Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker.
Conner was immediately taken to the locker room for further evaluation and did not return to the game. After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that Conner had suffered a knee injury and that the team would know more about the severity of the injury after further testing.
Conner has been a key player for the Steelers this season, rushing for over 500 yards and four touchdowns in five games. He has also been a reliable pass-catcher out of the backfield, catching 21 passes for another 200 yards.
The loss of Conner is a major blow to the Steelers, who are already without starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger due to an elbow injury. With Conner out, the Steelers will likely turn to rookie running back Benny Snell Jr. and veteran Jaylen Samuels to carry the load in the backfield.
The Steelers will hope that Conner’s injury is not too serious and that he can return to the field soon. However, with the NFL season being so short, any significant injury could have a major impact on the team’s success.
For now, all Steelers fans can do is hope for a speedy recovery for James Conner and that he can return to the field soon.
