The New Orleans Saints have been dealt a bit of a blow with the news that Derek Carr, their starting quarterback, has suffered an injury. However, the good news is that the injury is not too serious and Carr should be able to return to the field soon.
Carr suffered the injury during the Saints’ Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was attempting to make a tackle on a Buccaneers player when he was hit from behind and fell awkwardly on his shoulder. After being evaluated by medical staff, it was determined that Carr had suffered a shoulder strain.
The good news for the Saints is that the injury is not considered to be too serious and Carr should be able to return to the field soon. The team has already begun to prepare for his return by signing veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to back up Carr. Bridgewater is a proven starter in the NFL and should provide a solid backup option for the Saints.
In addition, the Saints have also been able to get some good news on the injury front with other players. Wide receiver Michael Thomas, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1, is expected to return to the field soon. Linebacker Demario Davis, who suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4, is also expected to return soon.
