As the NFL season opener approaches, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is ready to go and kickers are preparing for the big game. Cook is coming off a breakout season in 2019, where he rushed for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning him a Pro Bowl selection. He also added 519 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Cook is expected to be the focal point of the Vikings offense this season. He has the ability to make plays in both the running and passing game, making him a dual-threat weapon. The Vikings offensive line is also returning all five starters from last season, giving Cook plenty of protection in the backfield.
The Vikings kickers are also preparing for the season opener. Kicker Dan Bailey is returning for his second season with the team and is expected to be the team’s primary kicker. He made 22 of 28 field goals and all 32 extra points last season. He also had a career-long of 56 yards, showing he has the leg strength to make long-distance kicks.
The team also has rookie kicker Chase McLaughlin on the roster. McLaughlin was signed by the team in April and will provide depth at the position. He made 14 of 19 field goals and all 20 extra points during his college career at Illinois.
The Vikings are hoping that both Cook and their kickers can help them have a successful season opener. Cook is ready to go and the kickers are prepared for the big game. With both of them ready to go, the Vikings are hoping they can get off to a strong start this season.
