Than Expected
The Buffalo Bills had a tumultuous season 8, finishing with a 7-9 record and missing the playoffs. Despite the disappointing finish, the Bills’ performance was better than expected, given the team’s challenging circumstances.
The Bills had to deal with a number of injuries throughout the season, including to key players such as quarterback Josh Allen and running back LeSean McCoy. This hampered their ability to put together consistent offensive performances, as the team struggled to find a reliable replacement for McCoy.
The Bills also had to deal with a new head coach in Sean McDermott, who was tasked with implementing a new system and culture in Buffalo. Despite the learning curve, McDermott was able to get the most out of his players and the team showed signs of improvement throughout the season.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bills were able to generate consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks, finishing the season with the fourth-most sacks in the league. The team also had one of the best pass defenses in the league, allowing just over 200 passing yards per game.
The Bills’ special teams unit also had a strong season, finishing in the top 10 in both punt and kickoff return average. The team also had one of the best kickers in the league in Stephen Hauschka, who connected on 25 of his 28 field goal attempts.
Overall, the Buffalo Bills had a better-than-expected season 8. Despite dealing with injuries and a new head coach, the team was able to show signs of improvement throughout the year and put together some impressive performances. The Bills will look to build on this success in season 9 and make a push for the playoffs.
