The Houston Texans have been making some big moves this offseason, and the latest news is that they may be adding another weapon to their offense. Reports are circulating that the Texans are interested in signing former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud. If the deal goes through, Stroud would join an already talented group of offensive weapons, including star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Hopkins is coming off a career year in 2020, where he set career highs in receptions (115) and receiving yards (1,407). He also led the NFL in touchdown receptions with 11. With the addition of Stroud, Hopkins could be in line for an even bigger season in 2021.
Stroud, who was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, has the potential to be a game-changing quarterback in the NFL. He has the arm strength and accuracy to make all the throws, and his mobility gives him an added dimension that could make him a valuable asset for the Texans.
The pairing of Stroud and Hopkins could be a dynamic duo for the Texans. Hopkins is one of the best route runners in the league, and his ability to create separation will give Stroud plenty of targets to throw to. Stroud’s mobility will also open up more opportunities for Hopkins to get open downfield.
The Texans have had a busy offseason, and the addition of Stroud could be the final piece of the puzzle for them. If he can develop into a reliable quarterback, then he and Hopkins could form one of the most dangerous duos in the NFL. Only time will tell if this move pays off for the Texans, but it certainly looks like they are putting themselves in a good position to make a run at the playoffs in 2021.
