The Las Vegas Raiders have made a splash in the 2021 NFL Draft, selecting three players in a mock draft with trades. The Raiders traded up to the 17th overall pick to select Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith, then traded back to the 27th pick to select Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins. With their final pick, the Raiders traded up to the 80th overall pick to select Penn State offensive tackle Rasheed Walker.
The Raiders’ first selection was DeVonta Smith, who was widely considered to be the best wide receiver in the draft. Smith is a dynamic playmaker with excellent route running and ball skills. He is also a reliable pass catcher, having caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns in his final season at Alabama. Smith will be a great addition to the Raiders’ offense and should make an immediate impact.
The Raiders then traded back to the 27th overall pick and selected Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins. Collins is a versatile linebacker who can play both inside and outside. He is an excellent run defender and has the speed and agility to cover tight ends and running backs in the passing game. Collins is also an excellent blitzer and should be able to provide a spark to the Raiders’ pass rush.
Finally, the Raiders traded up to the 80th overall pick and selected Penn State offensive tackle Rasheed Walker. Walker is a powerful run blocker who can also hold his own in pass protection. He is a solid athlete who moves well in space and should be able to open up holes for the Raiders’ running backs. Walker should be able to compete for a starting job right away and should be an upgrade over the team’s current offensive line.
